All countries are seeing a trend towards quality, safety and sustainability with regards to packaging for food and beverages - relaunching glass as the preferred material. And with the ongoing boom in demand and production, from today - 29 May to 1 June Fiera Milano will host Glass Pack 2018, a show dedicated entirely to glass for packaging with products, solutions and ideas, use, accessories and design, also including an intense programme of conferences, workshops and meetings.
Container glass therefore on show at Glass Pack, with the main players and processes of this important sector: production, customization, decoration, labelling, closures and, last but not least, quality control.
The dedicated ‘Products on Display’ area will be host to the most significant examples of glass containers in both neutral and decorated glass from the most important suppliers.
According to data from Assovetro regarding the first ten months of 2017, production of glass containers for food and beverages in Italy increased 8%for bottles and 5,8% for jars. Exports of glass containers increased 3.9% while imports decreased 6.9%.
In fact, alongside the traditional and stable use for wine, the use of glass bottles continued to see growth for beer (+4%, probably due to the boom of artisan and craft beers also aimed at more industrial brands), mineral water (+8%) and oil (+10%). The increase in glass used for mineral water is particularly significant: glass bottles, with their traditionally strong presence in restaurants, is now seeing an important comeback in important retail chains and supermarkets.
