Two new lines for the production of glass containers will be opened at the Glass Market plant in Roslavl. The factory was visited by the deputy of the Smolensk region, Duma Leonid Prokopovich, the senator from the Smolensk region, Franz Klintsevich and the chairman of the Smolensk regional Council of veterans, Vitaly Vovchenko.

Glass Market was originally known as OAO Sitall, and was founded in 1936. In this time, it passed all stages of development, from an ordinary glass container plant to one of the leaders of the Russian market. The plant during the Great Patriotic War was completely destroyed, but after the war it was restored and in 1950 it produced about 35 million bottles a year.

 

For many years Sitall had developed dynamically. However, during the economic crisis due to huge debts to gas workers, it was cut off from gas consumption and stopped production. Now the situation has radically changed for the better. The plant opened bankruptcy proceedings, and work is in progress to pay off debts in all areas.

 

"Once a unique enterprise for the Smolensk region was on the verge of collapse," said Leonid Prokopovich, the former head of Sitala from 1993 to 2010, who devoted more than 35 years of his life to the plant. "Now it is on the rise, there is stability the sales market is being established. There are no failures in the payment of wages. A technical program has been developed that will allow the launch of two lines in the near future. This will give additional jobs, which is very important for Roslavl."

 

Nikolai Savchin, General Director of Glass Market LLC, said, "Currently 860 people work at the enterprise. The plant produces 700,000 bottles a day, and thanks to the upcoming launch of two additional lines it is expected to increase production by another 100,000."

 

The company produces glass containers for food liquids, alcoholic and perfume products, which are sold in all regions of the Central Federal District and the Republic of Belarus.

 

After inspecting the plant and talking to the factory workers, Senator Franz Klintsevich said, "The situation has changed. Experienced specialists came back to the plant who know the production well. I am confident that the difficulties will be solved, and after the launch of the two lines the enterprise will start working with new opportunities."

 

As a result of the visit to Glass Market LLC, it was concluded that it is important for the plant to support both regional and federal levels in order to increase capacity and receive orders as much as possible.
